On to July... and I sort of know what I want August to look like as well. So I could actually get ahead of the game! Am I avoiding "Fog Pile"? Probably!
It was a near thing --- started yesterday adn finsihed today. Not QUITE how I envisioned it --- it' called Deep Blue Sea and the encrustation of large beads is suppose to be foam on a wave... On to July... and I sort of know what I want August to look like as well. So I could actually get ahead of the game! Am I avoiding "Fog Pile"? Probably! rifestitch wrote on Jun 30, '11 That's pretty - I got the foam even before I finished reading it :)

I think I'll cal it "May Greening Up" because this May is when all the trees leafed out practically overnight.. rifestitch wrote on May 24, '11Ewww, that's cool!!! Great shades of green (my 2nd favorite color :) )!
It was meant to be "Easter-ish" but came out more "Mardi Gras-ish". I call it April Harlequin: didibeadwork wrote on Apr 3, '11 i love these. i think that they are very creative and would look great on a changeable display for a year. diane
rifestitch wrote on Apr 3, '11Pretty!!! I need to learn how to do this kind of bead work... leslieannapa wrote on Apr 4, '11 I love the mask theme. Do you use a back stitch? thatyankstitches wrote on Apr 4, '11 leslieannapa saidI love the mask theme. Do you use a back stitch? Yep --- backstitch all the way except for the gold "pearl" border which was couched... I use the five beads, back two and add five more approach and then, as was recommended back i last year's BJP, run the thread back through the entire row to smooth it out. leslieannapa wrote on Apr 5, '11 I just learned to do this stitch with beads and my first embroidery piece. How nice to see it done by someone else. Thank you Carol I was GOING to do it in shades of peridot (the March birthstone) and olive/lemon-lime greens. But after I got to a point with the top border ( a row of lemon-lime size 8s and four rows of silver lined peridot size 15s...) and could see the olive-and gold floral beads against the white felt I was stitching on, it became obvious that the rest of the mask had to be in white! So here it is: "March Charm"! ifestitch wrote on Mar 14, '11 WOW - I like that!!! Very cute!
Done at last. The beads I ran out of came Thursday so I worked on the last bits and pieces last night. It didn't come out quite like I wanted --- the amethyst color is a little on the brown side and the pink isn't quite the dusty rose I was aiming for. All in all, "February Love" is more of a compromise, I think... Maybe I'll have better luck with March? rifestitch wrote on Mar 12, '11 Well, it might be quite what you envisioned, but it is gorgeous nonetheless!!!
leslieannapa wrote on Mar 13, '11 Very, very, nice.I like the mask theme and the graduation of color is working. "January Ice" Started with a Mardi Gras mask template from online, reduced by 50%. Transferred to a piece of white felt which I then beaded. Cut out the felt, attached to the background fabric, glued a snowflake to the white shell bead, edged the cut-out with some string "beads" and added the "tassels" of Swarovsky crystal (sadly, what I thought were white crystal drops show up yellowish in light... Oh well). and glass beads. I learned that felt is tricky to bead on --- little strings of the wool kept attacking my needle, making placement of beads tedious. I also learned that beads will come off if you cut too close! And that the ink I used to transfer the project is still a little visible. So some felt and some ink still show. Have to come up with another way for February. Not sure how I'm going to finish this. I wanted to go smaller than last years 5 x5 but now it looks like 5 by 7 rectangles will be the end result. Oh, yes, and masks are my 2011 theme! Why? I don't know. I just saw a Venetian mask and that was it... rifestitch wrote on Jan 24, '11 That's great!! I have never done any beading like that at all - it would be fun to learn....
